At the end of August 2006 I installed Internet Explorer 7, at the start of September I uninstalled it.
"Works cannot save .... There may not be enough space on the computer or works cannot save the file to the specified destination."
This is caused when you try to save a page in web format, using the save as html option.
The solution is to uninstall IE 7.
This is turned on by default for IE7.
There is an option to turn it off in the IE7 tools->Internet Options -> Advanced.
Look in the multimedia section, and unclick the ClearType Option.
Apparently this has been brought in for LCD monitors, and those of us who don't want it can turn it off. Of course most people will just not understand why the text is no longer as clear. Typical Microsoft.
On my screen it just makes the font look blured, lots of others agree with me. See the link below for the Microsoft justification and comments of people who disagree.http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/02/03/524367.aspx
Menus now need to be clicked to be expanded, rather than just hovering.
WHY !!!!
The Bars at the top of a window can no longer be customised. You are forced to have at least two bars, so for those of us who currently use one there is less space for web pages.
You cannot remove the search option. Like many in the UK I use google.co.uk and always select the "pages from the UK" option. You cannot do this through the search bar. This means that the search bar part is now wasted space on every web page I visit.
WHY !!!!
Similar to FF you can have tabs with many tabs in one window. However IE7 forces you to give the bookmark a name, so you can't just use the icon.
The advantage of using just an icon, with no name, is that you can fit in many more tabs. Microsoft have failed to understand the importance of the favicon.ico file.
I know the favicons don't work properly in IE6 either.
The above errors were picked up in one week of using IE7, then I stopped.
